Navy Formal Recon Petitions

In Navy PEB cases, I always file a formal reconsideration petition prior to formal hearings. This is a “second bite at the apple” should your initial reconsideration petition be denied on the IPEB level.  If our petition is granted, then we will receive a summary decision- an “on the record decision”.  If it is not granted, then the reasons stated in the denial will effectively give us a road map as to where we need to “shore up” our case prior to the formal hearing.  The “formal recon” is simply a formal submission of the case outline discussed in previous blogs posts- at least three days prior to your formal hearing It is a great tool and somewhat unique to the Navy system.
